Fantic XE 300 and Cristino shine in the Junior class

Kevin Cristino remains the dominant force in the Junior class at the Assoluti d’Italia in Camaiore, while Matteo Pavoni, also riding the Fantic XE 300 with a Minarelli engine, secured another victory in the 300 class. In the 125 class, Pietro Scardina claimed a second-place finish on Sunday. Positive signs also came from Albin Norrbin and Axel Semb.

The weekend of March 15th and 16th saw the third and fourth rounds of the Assoluti d’Italia Enduro Championship take place in the beautiful town of Camaiore, in the province of Lucca. Despite the challenges posed by adverse weather conditions, with heavy rain preceding the event, the organizers and track inspector Mario Rinaldi worked tirelessly to ensure a safe and rideable course for all participants.

The bad weather required several adjustments, leading to the riders completing only four laps instead of the five initially scheduled on Saturday. The total course length was thus reduced to 40 km, including a 4 km Cross Test on the beach, while the second Cross Test was shortened to 3 km to avoid impassable sections. The Extreme Test, on rocky terrain, was reduced to about one kilometer, while the Enduro Test, originally 5 km, was shortened to 3.5 km.

Another double victory for reigning Junior class champion Kevin Cristino aboard the new Fantic XE 300 with a fuel-injected Minarelli engine. He now leads the overall standings with maximum points after the first four race days of the 2025 season. Throughout the weekend in Camaiore, the Italian also posted excellent times in several special tests.

Thanks to the XE 300 once again, Fantic celebrated another success with Matteo Pavoni, a Factory-supported rider from Team Specia. Matteo secured a first and a second place in the 300 class, stepping onto the top of the podium at the end of the race weekend.

In the 125 class, Pietro Scardina earned second place on Sunday, bouncing back after an unlucky Saturday, when a small technical issue forced him to retire. It was Riccardo Pasquato’s turn to put the Fantic XE 125 on the podium. The Team Specia rider delivered an incredible performance, securing second place on Saturday and fifth place on Sunday, to claim third place overall.

In the Foreigners class, Albin Norrbin finished in seventh place on both race days, while Axel Semb secured a ninth and an eighth place, respectively. Both riding the Fantic XEF 310, they had an encouraging weekend, recording good overall times in many special tests but also making a few mistakes.

The overall result does not fully reflect the speed of the Fantic Factory Racing riders, who will continue to work hard ahead of the upcoming events. The Assoluti will return on May 10th and 11th in Massa Marittima, Tuscany, while the EnduroGP season will kick off in Fafe, Portugal, on April 5th and 6th. Jed Etchells, who was absent from Camaiore due to a painful ankle, is also expected in Portugal.

Kevin Cristino:

“We are doing a great job as a team, and I am happy with the progress we are making with my new Fantic XE 300. The bike performs really well in sections where traction is crucial, and it has incredible power – I am relly enjoying riding it. The double victory in Camaiore is the result of the work we have done together as a team.”

Pietro Scardina:

“Things didn’t go as planned in Camaiore – unfortunately, I had to retire on Saturday. On Sunday, though, we managed to secure a solid second place in the 125 class, despite a few mistakes. But that is racing! Now, full focus on the first round of the World Championship in Portugal.”

Albin Norrbin:

“We are keeping up the hard work and we saw big improvements on both days here in Camaiore, showing good speed, especially on Sunday. I am happy with some strong times I set in a few special tests. We still have some more work to do. I know I can improve even further, and we will be ready for the first EnduroGP round in Portugal.”
