Fantic on Top of the Junior and Youth Classes in Spain

Axel Semb delivered an impressive performance at the second round of the EnduroGP season in Oliana, Spain. Riding the Fantic XEF 310, he secured double victories in both the Junior and Junior2 classes, taking over the championship lead. He was joined on the podium by Kevin Cristino aboard the Fantic XE 300, while Pietro Scardina claimed his first win of the year in the Youth class.

The second round of the 2025 EnduroGP World Championship took place on Saturday, May 3, and Sunday, May 4, in the small village of Oliana, in the heart of Catalonia, Spain. One month after the season opener in Portugal, the riders faced a 55 km course expertly laid out by Moto Club Segre. The race featured three special tests repeated three times each day, totaling 18 special tests, plus Friday night’s SuperTest, which drew a large crowd of fans.

The racecourse was mostly dry and dusty, though heavy rain on Sunday morning made the terrain slippery and muddy, forcing the organizers to delay the start and revise the layout. The original loop included a 6.5 km Enduro Test through wooded terrain with hard-packed and occasionally muddy ground, followed by a 1.9 km Extreme Test on a motocross track, and finally a fast 3 km Cross Test on the same route used for the SuperTest.

Axel Semb is the new leader of the Junior class after a brilliant double win on Spanish soil. The Swede delivered a standout performance aboard the Fantic XEF 310, posting numerous class-best times and even breaking into the top 10 overall. Kevin Cristino was on track for a Fantic 1-2 on Saturday, but a crash relegated him to fifth. On Sunday, he bounced back, taking third place on the podium with the Fantic XE 300 equipped with a fuel-injected Minarelli engine.

By winning both race days, Semb also took over the lead in Junior2. In the same category, Kevin Cristino secured two second-place finishes, demonstrating consistency and strong form.

Pietro Scardina delivered a strong performance in the Youth class. The young Italian opened the weekend by setting the fastest 125 time in the SuperTest. On Saturday, he alternated impressive special test times with a few costly mistakes that prevented him from battling for the win, but he still finished third. On Sunday, he dominated the 125 class, setting the fastest time in seven out of nine special tests.

In E2, Albin Norrbin finished fifth on the opening day, despite struggling to find his rhythm in the Enduro Test. He came back stronger on Sunday, battling for the top positions and ultimately placing fourth in the E2 class and twelfth overall. In E1, Jed Etchells wasn’t quite able to show his full potential, ending the weekend with sixth- and eighth-place finishes.

There’s more: factory-supported Team Specia rider Matteo Pavoni also secured fourth place in E3 on Sunday aboard the Fantic XE 300.

With the Spanish GP now in the books, the Enduro circus will soon head to Scandinavia for round three, which will take place from May 23 to 25 in Skövde, Sweden – a much-anticipated home race for Fantic riders Norrbin and Semb.

Axel Semb:

“What a great race weekend – I secured a double win in the Junior and Junior2 classes, and the leader’s plate is back in my hands. This means a lot to me, and I would like to thank the team and everyone at Fantic for making it possible.”

Kevin Cristino:

“It was quite a tricky weekend with the crash on Saturday and the heavy rain on Sunday, but I had a good second day of racing. Now it’s full focus, as we have the third round of the Italian Championship next weekend, and at the end of the month, the third EnduroGP of the season.”

Pietro Scardina:

“The weekend started well with a great time in the SuperTest. On Saturday, I made a few too many mistakes, but I knew I had strong pace in all the tests. We managed to make it happen on Sunday to secure my first win of the season.”

Albin Norrbin:

“Twelfth overall and fourth in E2 on day two ain’t bad at all. We are working hard to get on the podium in what is a highly competitive class. At the end of the month, we will be racing in Skövde, Sweden, for my home GP, and I hope to deliver a strong weekend.”
